About Miranda
A message from Dr. Brownley:
Those of you who know me will recognize this phrase: “This therapist is in my TOP FIVE.” Well, you guessed it—Miranda is a top-five therapist in my book.
She is warm, compassionate, and incredibly easy to connect with. Her skill set is expansive, and she draws from a wide range of therapeutic modalities to truly tailor her work to each individual. One of the tools she brings to the table is specialized training in EMDR—a powerful approach that helps patients unpack the barriers to self-acceptance and compassion. So many of us spend too much time tuned into our inner critic—and not just listening to it, but believing it. Why? Culture, upbringing, trauma, body image, food, self-worth… all of these forces shape how we see ourselves and can hold us back from the freedom to simply be.
Patients I’ve shared with Miranda consistently tell me how satisfied they are—not just with her approach, but with their progress. And I see the ripple effects: improved emotional regulation, decreased need for higher medication doses, and a steadier, more grounded path toward their goals.
So I’ll ask you—what’s holding you back? Sounds like it's time to explore with Miranda.
My Story
Hi, I’m Miranda Layton, a therapist, mother, and lifelong learner in the art of balance. My journey has taken me from Pennsylvania to Maryland, and now to South Carolina, in pursuit of warmer weather and a slower, more intentional pace of life. I share that life with my two amazing daughters and two lovable dogs—each of whom has brought joy, chaos, and countless opportunities for growth.

Parenthood has been one of the most meaningful and challenging experiences of my life. Navigating it has helped shape who I am as a person and as a therapist. Through my own life transitions and the many hats I wear, I’ve come to deeply value the importance of self-care, self-compassion, and work-life balance—and it’s become my mission to help others find that same balance in their own lives.

I have a special focus on body image work and exploring root causes. I bring a compassionate, client-centered approach that helps clients reconnect with their bodies in empowering and healing ways. In our work together, we’ll challenge harmful societal narratives and build a more peaceful relationship with food, movement, and self-worth.

I also have a specialization in perinatal mental health, and I’m passionate about supporting individuals through life’s many transitions—whether you’re coping with anxiety, depression, separation/divorce, alcohol use, parenting challenges, or simply feeling overwhelmed. Therapy is a space where you don’t have to have it all figured out. My goal is to walk alongside you, offering tools, perspective, and encouragement so you can feel more fulfilled, grounded, and connected in all the roles you hold.

When I’m not doing therapy, you’ll likely find me soaking up the outdoors with my family, paddleboarding, practicing yoga, or tackling a home project. I believe in practicing what I teach—making the most of life outside of work so I can show up fully for my clients.
